To study basics of glass for 2 years
For the G.C.S. Program, the first year is a concentration in basic techniques, which lay the foundation for the second year of conceptual exploration.

To study glass in advanced level for 2 years
The curriculum for the A.R.S. Program is completely tailored to individual student’s need. The relationship with the faculty is completely on a one to one basis with the goal of a graduate exhibition at the end of the period of study.

Workshop

2 times a year, one-week intensive with an overseas glass artist.
Toyama City Institute of Glass Art (T.I.G.A) conducts two workshops per year, one in spring and another in fall. The duration of each workshop is about a week and artists are invited from abroad. These artists are asked to share their knowledge with students through demonstrations and slide lectures. The fall workshop is accompanied by a student exhibition, where the public may come and view student works as well as demonstration by the invited artists.

Critique
Outside critics are invited twice a year for student critiques.

End of the 1st semester, 2nd semester and graduation project we have the critics by 5 professors and guest from outside of the school. These critics are great opportunity for the students to grow up.

Professionals from different fields visit to share their experiences.The lecture series exposes the professional institute to artists from various fields. We invite artists such as; physicists, architects, sculptors, designers, flower arrangement master, ceramicist, etc. We also utilize this class to introduce glass techniques, which are not covered during the regular classes. The activities of emerging artists from our institutes are also introduced in the class.

We have been offering the highest education to glass artists since 1991 when TIGA was established as the first educational institution specializing in glass art. We have graduated more than 380 students from TIGA who have since gone to places around the world.
