COLDWORK I・IIVaclav Rezac

V tomto oboru se prolínají dva fenomény, tj. remeslo a umění.
Co se naucíte z umění? Povedu vás k netrendovosti, nepoplatnosti nějakému stylu ci umění.
Autenticita je stavební kámen mé výuky. V tvorbě jde nakonec o hledání individuálního života,
kdy se clověk stává sám sebou. Hledejme vlastní způsob vyjádrení uměním.
Co se naucíte z remesla? Získáte zkušenosti s rucním broušením skla, leštěním skla, pískováním skla,
lepením skla, atd. Vše použijete v kombinaci s ostatními technikami, tj.
foukání skla na huti a tavení skla do formy. Naucíte se navrhovat skleněné objekty, které si pak vyrobíte.
Nejen broušení skla budete používat jako prostredek k dosažení svého uměleckého cíle.

In the dynamic field of glass, art and craft have the possibility to blend together as one.
You will obtain experience in the grinding, polishing, sandblasting and gluing of glass.
You will explore the potential of the cold glass technique as it works in combination with other facets of production such as blowing and casting.
Through this exploration you will learn how to design glass objects and follow the project through to the completion of a finished glass work.
You will achieve your art objective by employing techniques in and out of the cold shop.
I will lead you to go beyond trends and fads and discourage you from strictly following a certain style.
Authenticity is the cornerstone of my teaching practice and I will encourage you to explore your process and search through your individual life to find your true self and inspiration. Art making is a mission, and let us seek our own ways of expressing ourselves.

One of the most basic foundations of expression is Drawing. In this class objects are described and drawn for extensive periods of time in order to heighten one's skills of observation. It is important to dissect one's perspective in order to discover the finer details existing in the simplest natural things. I believe that a thorough visual analysis of the world reveals the hidden details that can be the source of inspiration.

However, to fully understand this technique one must have a goos sensitivity to the glass material and a desire to practice in order to complete a finished piece. when the students create glasswork using traditional flameworking techniques they have an ability to feel connected to the thousands of years of glass history through the process of working with the torch.
